Answer 0602: How would I obtain an ISTEP test for my child (to be issued by a teacher)? Also, how would I submit it for scoring?
First
off, Private Schooled children do not -- actually are not allowed to -- take
the ISTEP test. The ISTEP test is only for publicly schooled children in Indiana.
If you are homeschooling, and take one or more classes at your local public
school, you MAY be subject to testing. Kate Clark, from the Indiana DOE, recently
answered this very question from one of our subscribers with the following:

As far as testing goes: State law does not require ISTEP+, or any other testing,
for children in home schools. In fact, home educated children may not take ISTEP+
unless they are also enrolled in a public school for at least one period per
day.
